The Kickin’ Chicken location at 1179 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in West Ashley is temporarily closed for maintenance and repairs, according to signage posted on the restaurant website.
Charleston’s Design Review Board recently approved several updates to the space, including new overhead doors, a new storefront entrance and a relocated bar inside the Charleston-based sports bar chain.
What Now Charleston reached out to Kickin’ Chicken for an update on the renovations and a projected reopening timeline but has not yet received a response.
Kickin’ Chicken was founded in 1997 by University of South Carolina graduates Chip Roberts and Bobby Perry. The restaurant has focused on serving quality food in a casual, friendly environment since its inception.
The menu centers on the chain’s signature item, the original Kickin’ Chicken sandwich, along with a lineup of Southern-style comfort food, including fried chicken tenders, wraps, burgers, tacos and salads. The restaurant also features rotating monthly specials.
The full bar includes craft cocktails with playful names such as Playin’ Through and Porch Swing, as well as a selection of draft beers and wine.
Delivery remains a core part of the Kickin’ Chicken brand. The first order was a delivery, and the restaurant continues to offer delivery seven days a week from every location.
Kickin’ Chicken has several other Charleston-area locations, including downtown Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Dorchester Road and Bees Ferry.
