Music City Hot Chicken is making moves to take over the lease at the TRVE Brewing space at 227 Broadway #101, the Denver Post reports. The business has had a kitchen residency there since 2021 and was surprised when the brewery announced a sudden closure earlier this month.
Co-owner Sam Graf is in talks with the landlord to transform the taproom into a restaurant/bar. He told What Now Denver that while a lot is up in the air right now, “they seem motivated to keep [Music City Hot Chicken] in the space”, adding that furniture, fixtures, and equipment will stay, and there are not any major modifications planned.
Operations will continue through August with limited hours: Thursday from 3 PM to 9 PM and Friday through Sunday from 11 AM to 9 PM. There are currently only non-alcoholic beverages available; they will be applying for a liquor license once they assume the lease.
“This is not a move we ever imagined making. It comes with a lot of uncertainty and a lot of mixed feelings. But our goal is simple. We want to keep serving the food you love in the place where you expect to find it. We want to take care of our staff. We want to keep going. We want to keep the community that has formed in these walls together,” Graf said.
The Nashville-style fried chicken concept, founded in 2016 by Graf and his brother Jordan, is based out of Fort Collins. What Now Denver covered its second FoCo store opening last year. TRVE had been in business since 2012 and had two locations.
