Berkeley Alley Beer Company, a tucked-away microbrewery in north Denver, recently changed hands, according to the Denver Post. The business, located in an alley at 4342 Tennyson Street, has two new owners who are beer industry veterans.
Chelsea Rhoads and Liz Hess are best friends and co-hosts of the irreverent and popular Body by Beer Podcast, and now, also the new proprietors of the company. Rhoads helped launch 4 Noses Brewing and previously consulted for Monolith Brewing, while Hess worked at Resolute Brewing.
The 35-seat venue originally opened as De Steeg Brewing in 2013, but changed names in 2021, Westword writes. Rhoads and Hess will keep the name but are changing its offerings and refreshing its environment. Licensing is underway for an expanded beverage program that will include coffee, tapped cocktails, and more zero-proof options, and they will offer grab-and-go snacks.
“The heavy lifting is done. We’re still wrapping up details — fixing trim, replacing doors, and finishing off a statement art piece that’ll tie everything together. Nothing that gets in the way of a great beer or a good time,” Rhoads told What Now Denver.
“We’re incredibly excited to reimagine Berkeley Alley Beer Co. as a place where curiosity, creativity, and community come together. Whether you’re into craft beer, NA options, kombucha, or just good vibes—we want you to feel like you belong here,” she continued.
