Business owners are moving into the city following success as a Latin American restaurant in Skokie.
The team at Libertad recently submitted a liquor license application for 1835 W North Avenue on the first floor under the name Libertad Sur. This is set to be a new Latin American restaurant. As of now, there is not an opening date set.
The details of the new restaurant are not confirmed yet except that it may have an outdoor patio. It will be going in at the corner of W North Avenue and N Huron Street in Wicker Park. This is right across the road from Lucia’s Italian restaurant
The current Libertad location is at 7931 Lincoln Avenue in Skokie. Their menu features dishes like flautas, camarones, arepas, salmon and steaks. Sides, appetizers and desserts are also served, and there is a full bar inside.
When Libertad was contacted, it was confirmed the new restaurant is still being planned. It is listed as being active on the Illinois Secretary of State website. The owners are Marcos and Leonella Rivera, who were not available when What Now Chicago reached out to them for comment.
It was reported in 2019 that the owners were planning two new restaurants in Evanston. Those two restaurants are now known as Estacion at 633 W Howard Street and Zentli at 1813 Dempster Street. Libertad Sur will be the newest project from the restaurateurs.
