Two spin-off locations of Woodie’s Flat are coming to the suburbs this year.

It was recently reported by QSR Magazine that Big Onion Hospitality will open two Woodie’s Wings locations at 1060 Orchard Road in Oswego and 1900 E Hintz Road in Wheeling. These will have menus similar to Woodie’s Flat in downtown Chicago. The restaurants are going inside Gas N’ Wash locations in the cities, and there is no opening date yet.

Big Onion’s initial announcement was a vague message on social media in late July about something “big coming soon.” Now, this marks the beginning of Woodie’s expansion outside of Chicago. According to Vice President of Marketing for Big Onion Hospitality Tim Toomey, there are additional locations planned for the future.

“Oswego and Wheeling are just the beginning of Woodie’s expanding outside of Chicago,” said the press release from Big Onion Hospitality.

Woodie’s Flat is at 1535 N Wells Street in the Near North Side neighborhood. It features wings, tacos, pretzels, nachos and even Cincinnati chili. On the website, it’s stated the new locations will have “beef fat fries,” chicken sandwiches, pretzels and milkshakes. The new spots will also offer to-go options.

“We source chicken from reputable distributors to provide a high-quality experience in every bite, made even better with our house-made sauces,” said Jim Heflin, corporate executive chef for Big Onion Hospitality.

Other brands from Big Onion Hospitality include Fatpour Tap Works and Hopsmith Tavern. Woodie’s Wings is the newest project from the team. The company is currently doing fundraising to help with the proposed additional locations.

Toomey told What Now Detroit the company won’t be sharing opening dates until the location passes health inspections. This will be later in August. For more information on the new locations, visit woodieswings.com.
