Lakewood bar Old 121 Brewhouse is expanding its footprint with a new location. Denver Post reports the business will be taking over the former home of Great Frontier Brewing Company, which closed recently, at 2010 S. Oak St.

Co-founders Katie and Sam Nicholson will be joined by new co-owner and head brewer Bobby Rinehart as part of the expansion. Sam confirmed to What Now Denver that the brewery is “in the process of applying for permits and construction, which will take around 2–3 months”. They are targeting to open in October or November.

“We are beyond thrilled to expand our operations in Lakewood,” Katie said. “We consider ourselves extremely grateful to have seen success during a tough time for breweries in the Denver area and are excited to bring our beer to more Coloradans. We also want to thank Mike and Brian of Great Frontier for being cornerstones of the Lakewood beer community for the past 10+ years.”

The new site will seat 75 patrons and is set to undergo small renovations, including expanding bathrooms, adding taps, and an expansion of outdoor seating overlooking Cottonwood Park. A 15-barrel production system will also be installed, increasing brewing capacity nearly fivefold.

This will lead to an expanded proprietary beverage line, as well as additions to the menu like hard sodas, seltzers, and NA drinks. And there will be a permanent food truck at the property, The Pizza Bandit, known for its Neapolitan-style pizzas and root beer floats. It currently operates a stall at Avanti Food & Beverage, according to that venue’s site.
