Lucky’s chops are coming to Los Angeles! According to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, the restaurant and its trio of owners secured a liquor license for Lucky’s Steakhouse in mid-September.
The official opening date has not yet been announced, but the liquor license confirms that the new steakhouse will live in the Arts District at 726 Mateo Street.
The fine dining establishment laid roots closer to the street of Los Angeles with the opening of Lucky’s Steakhouse in Malibu after 20 years of operations. The website also details that the Montesano Group, the brains behind Lucky’s Steakhouse and a trio of restaurants, is led by Gene Montesano. The entrepreneur is joined by Jimmy Argyropoulos, and Herb Simon in this new venture, which promises to bring its exclusive selection of USDA prime steaks, Maine lobsters, “no-nonsense cocktails,” and world-class wine cellar to the City of Angels.
Founded in Montecito in 2000, Lucky’s now spans three locations, including Malibu and SoHo. In addition to Lucky’s Steakhouse, the Monteasno Group is also at the helm of the famed American steakhouse and urban bar in Santa Barbara, Joe’s Cafe, Montecito’s beloved Italian eatery, Tre Lune Ristorante, and Santa Barbara Bakery, D’Angelo Bread.
After opening on the East Coast this Summer, Lucky’s Steakhouse will finally make a splash in Los Angeles by the end of the year. The fine dining experience honors the classic American steakhouse tradition.
On its website, Gene shares that he believes “luck favors the bold.” So, he, along with his friends and now business partners, took over the first building to hold the Lucky’s name with hopes of breaking the bad luck the location was said to have held. Since then, business has been booming, new locations have sprouted, so it only seemed right to bring it to the folks of Los Angeles.
The famed Mateo Street in Downtown Los Angeles’ revitalized Arts District can expect to see and smell Lucky’s Steakhouse soon.
