A Central Eastside bar is being brought back to life next month.

The new owners of Slow Bar at 533 SE Grand Avenue have officially applied for a new liquor license. This follows the bar’s closure in early August. The owners, Katie Burt and David Wilson, have not yet solidified an opening date.

In a recent social media post, the owners announced that the bar was bought from longtime owners Joshua Husbands an Rob Hemmerling. The bar has been in the Central Eastside area since 2004, serving beer and cocktails, burgers, soups and sandwiches. It was also known for hosting private parties.

“We have some things to get taken care of but we will be back open as soon as we are able and will keep everyone posted about what it looks like,” said the post.

The new liquor license states there will be food service and DJ music. Indoor operating hours are everyday noon-2 a.m., and outdoor hours are everyday noon-midnight. There are no updates on renovations or new additions inside the space.

Slow Bar is right next to My Father’s Place Grill at the corner of SE Washington Street and SE Grand Avenue, also close to Hotel Grand Stark. The outdoor seating wraps around the building, and this is expected to stay the same.

The new owners are locals to Portland and have previous bartending experience. In the social media post, Burt describes the bar as her home, as she used to live very close to Slow Bar. What Now Portland has reached out to Burt and Wilson who have not yet responded for comment.
