DC residents Megan Draheim and David Harris are bringing the flavors of Montgomery County to life with their new distillery. Song Dog Farm Distillery will officially open next month with a grand opening event on October 12. By blending locally grown grains with handcrafted spirits, the distillery aims to become Montgomery County’s newest destination for craft spirits.
Song Dog Farm Distillery’s Grand Opening Announcement
After more than a decade of planning, growing, and distilling, Song Dog Farm Distillery is set to open this October. Known for their award-winning bourbon, DC residents Megan Draheim and David Harris are ready to open this new spirit destination. With a grain-to-glass distillery, tasting room, and cocktail bar, they are ready to host unforgettable events.
Danny Childs, author of Slow Drinks, has designed the cocktails that will be served in the tasting room and cocktail bar. Guests can enjoy locally made food, including charcuterie, sandwiches, dips, and offerings from rotating food trucks. The 29-acre farm distillery will host year-round events and serve a range of spirits for visitors to enjoy throughout the year.
Celebrating Local Flavors and Sustainability
Situated in Montgomery County, the distillery highlights local ingredients and the community’s craft spirit culture. Co-Founder David Harris states that they are believers in spirits terroir. Grain, soil, water, and local microbes shape their spirits, bringing the unique taste of Montgomery County to visitors. Their whiskies, vodka, gin, and other spirits will carry the unique flavors of this terrain, bringing the best of MoCo.
Co-owned by conservation ecologist Megan Draheim, the distillery holds environmental responsibility at its core. The project reflects the founders’ commitment to sustainability and community.
Grand Opening to Celebrate the Occasion
On Sunday, October 12, the distillery will open its doors to guests at 18100 Bucklodge Road, Boyds, in Montgomery County. The grand opening will feature an 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony, free tours and tastings, and a chance to meet the goats from Bluffing Goat Farm, which supplies the distillery’s goat cheese.
Cocktails, food, and bottles will be available for purchase right from day one. The family- and dog-friendly distillery features a 45-seat indoor tasting room, a 1,500-square-foot porch, and acres of open space for gatherings, picnics, and live music.
The distillery will open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The spirits produced will be certified kosher by the Chicago Rabbinical Council. With its full slate of spirits, events, and amenities, Song Dog Farm Distillery is poised to become a must-visit spot for craft spirit enthusiasts.
