Corallino, a new full-service Italian restaurant concept, is set to open in San Diego at 1101 Scott Street.
The new restaurant will open in the former home of Pummarò Pizzeria and Ristorante, with an expected opening in Spring 2026, according to a press release. Guests can anticipate a full-service dining experience focused on Italian cuisine, continuing the neighborhood-driven approach for which the Cesarina team is known.
Corallino, meaning “coral” in Italian, is the third concept from the family-owned Cesarina Group, which includes Cesarina Mezzoni, Niccolò Angius, and Giuseppe Capasso. David Cohn, co-owner of Cohn Restaurant Group, is an individual investment partner in the project, though Corallino is not part of CRG’s portfolio. The Cesarina team remains fully independent, maintaining ownership of their restaurant group, which includes Cesarina, Elvira, and the forthcoming Corallino.
The Point Loma location marks a continued investment in the neighborhood for the Cesarina team, who opened their namesake restaurant there in 2019 after years of selling fresh pasta at local farmers’ markets. The group also operates Elvira, a modern Roman restaurant and pizza bar in nearby Ocean Beach.
The approximately 3,100-square-foot Scott Street property has been leased and will be renovated with design input from Limes Architetti, the Italian architecture and interior design firm behind Elvira. While specific concept details will be revealed closer to opening, the team promises a dining experience rooted in traditional Italian flavors and thoughtful neighborhood hospitality.
With the lease secured and plans underway, Corallino is poised to become the latest addition to Point Loma’s growing dining scene.
“We’ve felt fully adopted by this community,” Angius said in a press release. “Point Loma has been incredibly good to us, and we want to keep creating places that locals genuinely love.
