A new day is dawning for an established Memphis favorite. After a difficult close to 2025 caused by a fire rendering the location unusable, Dixie Queen is getting ready to relaunch its Overton Crossing storefront.

Certain repairs have already been undertaken on the 3331 Overton Crossing Street restaurant. Owner Joe Raffanti very generously set aside some time to fill What Now Memphis in on the location’s progress, explaining that the building has been painted and gutted but he is awaiting city permits to begin the interior rebuilding.

As a positive sign of forward momentum, the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development issued Dixie Queen a commercial mechanical permit on January 14 of this year. Raffanti states that he and his team are hopeful that the buildout will take around a month once every hurdle is cleared and has assured What Now Memphis that he will let readers know as progress develops and an opening nears.

Dixie Queen is a long-time Memphis institution, beloved for its made-to-order burgers, sandwiches, and wings. Locals already know the cuisine is worth waiting for and are certain to rejoice when the Overton Crossing location reopens, bringing with it a passion for serving truly great meals. The website reminds Memphians just what makes Dixie Queen so irreplaceable: “Generous portions, old-school flavor, and true Memphis soul make our food…a delightful experience, especially when you treat yourself to our delicious ice cream.”
