A beloved Memphis museum is getting ready to start a new chapter-one that comes with a cup of coffee. The Memphis Metal Museum has filed paperwork to include a cafe kitchen in its upcoming Overton Park home.
After 47 years of welcoming Memphis residents at 374 Metal Museum Drive, the institution is relocating to 1930 Poplar Avenue. The Metal Museum currently has a commercial alteration permit under review with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for its cafe kitchen. The application identifies the cafe’s use as “restaurant” and establishes that it will have a dedicated 645 square feet of space.
There is not presently a great deal of information available about the cafe itself, however curious locals won’t have to wait much longer to discover the scope of its offerings. The Memphis Metal Museum will be holding its grand opening celebration on Saturday, September 5. Interested parties can RSVP for the festivities on the website.
