Chez Ben On S’bour La Bédaine, a retro-style diner famous for its poutine and family-friendly atmosphere, is getting ready to open a new location in Granby at 546 Reynolds Street.
The company’s second location will move into the former site of the Itri canteen, which was acquired last fall, according to Silo57. Construction is expected to start in March 2026, with an official opening planned for late Summer 2026. Co-owner Jimmy Dubé said the new canteen is a gift for the diner’s 75th anniversary. Customers can expect a kitchen of similar size, a slightly smaller dining room, and a lighted sign inspired by the original.
Founded in 1950, Chez Ben On S’bour La Bédaine has been a staple in Granby for three generations, serving local families and visitors alike. The original location at 599 Main Street is known for its retro aesthetic, poutine, dairy bar, and friendly service. Over the decades, the diner has celebrated its customers with themed events, pop-ups, and seasonal offerings, reinforcing its role in the community.
The new Reynolds Street location will honor the original diner while modernizing the space for today’s guests. The project represents an investment of approximately $1.5 million and is timed to coincide with the diner’s 75th anniversary.
The menu will highlight signature offerings, including poutine, sandwiches, wraps, and seasonal dairy bar items, with the same focus on quality and authenticity.
This will be an excellent landing spot for Chez Ben On S’bour La Bédaine, given its proximity to the Granby Zoo, which attracts both locals and visitors. The success of this second location may lead to additional branches in other areas, continuing the legacy of a diner integral to the community for 75 years.
