ASPIRA Inc. of Illinois has filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) with the state officials. In the WARN notice filed on March 6, the organization has confirmed the layoffs and closure of its two Chicago facilities.
According to the notice, the job cuts will affect staff at two campuses located at 3013 N. Monticello Avenue and 3986 W. Barry Avenue in Chicago.
The layoffs will affect 57 employees, including teachers, administrators, and support staff. The first phase of layoffs is scheduled to begin on April 3, 2026.
The WARN Act is a federal law that was enacted in 1988 to provide protection and support to employees during unemployment. The law states that employers with more than 100 employees are required to give a 60-day advance notice. It also has additional information about the expected date of the layoffs.
In this case, the filing confirms that more than 50 employees at the two Chicago school locations will be affected starting in early April.
