An exciting young chain is getting ready to make its Dallas debut after years of delighting DFW diners. Coco Shrimp, a distinctive concept that puts a healthier spin on fast-casual cuisine, will be opening a new location-its 11th overall-in the Oak Lawn area, and locals can look forward to enjoying its cuisine before the year is out.
The restaurant will be bringing its award-winning tacos, scratch-made sauces and dressings, and plenty of the titular shellfish to 2525 Wycliff Avenue, Suite 130. Paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that the renovated storefront will give Coco Shrimp a dedicated 2,200 square feet for greeting and serving guests.
Coco Shrimp is ably helmed by partners and owners Walter Cervin and Blaise Hadley. Hadley generously provided What Now Dallas with some tantalizing details, certain to pique the interest (and hunger) of future Dallas regulars.
Hadley explains that the duo chose its first Dallas location deliberately, saying they “chose this location for its proximity to Oak Lawn and the Dallas Medical Center, which includes Parkland Hospital, Children’s Medical Center, and UT Southwestern Medical Center…Coco Shrimp will enhance the dining options in an area that is currently underserved with quality restaurants.” He adds that the pair “are optimistic about this location, as the area is undergoing urban redevelopment and is gradually becoming a more attractive and upscale neighborhood.”
Though Coco Shrimp is still a younger presence in the DFW dining scene, it has established a strong regional presence since its founding in 2016. The concept already has storefronts open in Mansfield, Keller, Denton, Richardson, Plano, Wylie, College Station, and three locations in Fort Worth.
Coco Shrimp stands out in the crowded fast-casual market through its focused and delicious menu, which offers diners hungry for healthier options a more nutritious alternative. While plenty of DFW diners already know and love the chain’s fare, others are about to discover a new favorite, described as a: “quality fast-casual restaurant, which aims to offer a unique and lighter, healthier alternative to the area’s dining options. The concept is quite distinctive, as it exclusively serves shrimp. The menu features five different shrimp plates and a sampler plate, all accompanied by savory butter, garlic rice, and fresh salad. Notably, all Coco’s sauces and dressings are made from scratch. Furthermore, the award-winning Coco Tacos were recently ranked 45th in the nation (8th in Texas) among the hottest taco spots on Yelp the previous year!”
Dallas locals will be able to sample Coco Shrimp’s menu this summer; Hadley and Cervin project a July opening for the new location.
