Flanigan’s, the South Florida restaurant chain that’s become a beloved institution for its inexpensive drinks, pub grub, and family-friendly atmosphere has announced its expansion in the southernmost region of Miami-Dade county.
The restaurant just posted a slightly unhinged video on Facebook that shows a rendering for the restaurant’s massive new 8,500 square foot Homestead restaurant. The Homestead CRA confirms the news which has been rumored for about a year now, stating: “The City of Homestead and the CRA are actively engaged in the process of drafting a sales contract and negotiating a development agreement, facilitating the introduction of a new Flanigan’s restaurant at the Old City Hall Site.” An opening date has not been announced, as contracts are still being finalized between the restaurant chain and the city.
The location, at 700 N Homestead Boulevard, is within walking distance of historic Krome Avenue and Downtown Homestead, Miami-Dade College’s Homestead Campus, Harris Field, and Homestead Station. The future restaurant site, on 13.5 acres of City-owned property, is also one-and-a-half miles from the Florida Turnpike, making it a major destination for tourists on their way to and from major attractions such as Everglades National Park, Pennekamp State Park, and the Upper Keys.
