Beloved DMV fixture SOKO Butcher understands that great food-and its impact-far transcends the length of a meal. The popular concept has already brought delicious, ethical, and healthy dining to Maryland and a DC offshoot; feeding hungry Crystal City residents in a new location is next on SOKO’s agenda, reports local media outlet ARLNow.
SOKO Butcher is setting up shop on the ground floor of the Grace and Reva apartment building-the eatery will have a dedicated 1,600 square feet at 269 19th Court S., Suite 95. Brad Feickert, the mind behind SOKO, kindly made some time to fill What Now DC in on the concept’s upcoming Crystal City home.
“The area has a great vibe about it and a lot of new and exciting things going on there, so we thought we should join the party!” he explains. “All the new shops and restaurants in that area make it seem like a great place for a SOKO.”
SOKO defies easy categorization. The concept fulfills multiple functions under one roof-all of which are symbiotic with each other. Feickert explains “All our shops are a mixture of butcher shop / sandwich shop / deli / retail shop. Every aspect of SOKO plays off each other- for example all our off cuts and trim go into our sandwich production, hence we have very little to no waste!”
The promise of delicious, fresh, and sustainable cuisine alongside various retail options is exciting in and of itself, however the Crystal City location will see the concept evolve a little further-Feickert states the “new locations will sell beer and wine and have some seating, along with retail beer and wine.”
2026 is on deck to be a big year for Feickert and the SOKO team; another location is also being developed in the Leesburg Historic District and will also feature beer, wine, and seating.
Crystal City foodies unfamiliar with SOKO’s fare will certainly want to sample “the Philly”-the restaurant’s take on the iconic Philadelphia cheesesteak. The dish was named one of D.C.’s best sandwiches by the Washington Post. The eatery has plenty of options available for those uninterested in the flavors of the City of Brotherly Love; alongside an extensive sandwich list (and a “make-your-own” option), SOKO offers salads, loaded fries, and wings.
SOKO’s new location does not have a definitive opening timeline yet, however Feickert is hopeful that the concept will be ready to serve Crystal City diners in three or four months.
