West Memphis is setting the stage for the arrival of a highly anticipated new-comer. Though Buc-ee’s will not make its regional entrance for another 2 years, the city is making the infrastructural updates necessary to welcome the Texas favorite, reports Memphis Business Journal.
Buc-ee’s will be occupying a 34-acre lot immediately before the I-40 and I-55 split. The establishment will span 74,000-square-feet and will offer visitors plenty of opportunity to refuel at one of its 120 gas pumps.
Buc-ee’s arrival will be massive, not just in terms of physical real estate but also in regards to its impact on the city. West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon states: “Buc-ee’s is going to bring over 100,000 people up the interstate weekly. That’s going to benefit us by the tax revenue from Buc-ee’s. That’s going to allow us to build new things, fix more streets and sidewalks, and do things that we need to do in the community, whether it’s public safety or the whole nine yards.”
West Memphis is widening roads, adding roundabouts, and updating electric, water, and sewer structures in anticipation of the chain’s arrival. The $30 million infrastructure project is well underway-Mayor McClendon states that 75% of the necessary work is complete and the Arkansas Department of Transportation anticipates the project will be completed by December of 2027.
Buc-ee’s has become one of Texas’s top exports, with a massive fan-following thanks to its incredibly clean bathrooms and impressive hot food menu. West Memphis locals will be able to enjoy Buc-ee’s for themselves when it opens in June of 2028.
