According to public filings, Crunch Fitness, is planning to open a second McKinney location at 1707 W. University Drive. The 50,000-square-foot Mega Crunch facility is set to undergo renovations to accommodate the new state-of-the-art gym, with construction scheduled to begin in mid-June and wrap up by end of 2026.
The project is being developed by Southwest Fitness Holdings, LLC, a division of CR Fitness Holdings, the largest Crunch Fitness franchisee in the country. At the time of this location’s opening, the group is projected to be operating 16 Crunch clubs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and 110 locations overall across Florida, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, and Tennessee.
The McKinney North location will feature enhanced strength and cardio equipment and a full suite of specialty spaces including a HIITZone, Abs & Glutes Room, Hot Studio for yoga and group fitness classes, Ride Cycle Studio, Olympic Squat Racks, Group Fitness Studio, and Relax & Recover Areas featuring a Frost Locker and Infrared Sauna. The new facility is expected to bring over 70 career opportunities to McKinney across personal training, group fitness, sales, and operations.
Crunch Fitness is known for its “No Judgments” philosophy and high-value, low-price membership model. The first 500 founding members will receive a free t-shirt and exclusive discounts on small group and personal training. Presale is currently active with a street team on site.
The new location comes as McKinney continues to grow rapidly. The city’s population surpassed 237,000 residents in early 2026 and is projected to continue climbing, creating demand for additional retail, entertainment, and fitness options throughout the area.
