AutoZone is heading to a new location in Stephenville. According to public records, the auto parts retailer plans to build a ground-up store at 190 Morgan Mill Rd. in Erath County. The project will occupy a 7,381-square-foot space and will be the second AutoZone location in the city, joining the existing store located at 2008 W. Washington Street. What Now Dallas tried to reach out to AutoZone representatives to learn about the expected opening timeline, but did not receive a response before publication. However, construction is expected to begin in late December 2026 and end by late April 2027.
AutoZone offers new and remanufactured hard parts, maintenance items, and accessories, serving both DIY customers and professional service providers. Its stores also provide free services, including battery testing, loaner tools, and Fix Finder diagnostic checks. The chain was founded in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1979 and has grown into one of the nation’s largest auto parts retailers, with more than 7,000 locations across the United States, Mexico, and Brazil.
The new Stephenville location aligns with AutoZone’s broader expansion patterns. Texas remains a core growth state for automotive retail due to sustained vehicle dependency and long commuting distances. The combination of population growth, suburban expansion, and high per-capita vehicle usage continues to support steady demand for auto parts retail across the state.
