A spot for listening to records accompanied by a cocktail is planned for Evanston’s Southeast side.

Goods Parlor and Sound is a proposed bar for 915 Chicago Avenue this year, from recent reports. It comes from Aaron Bertucci and David Meihaus, two friends who have years of experience in the music industry. Meihaus told What Now Chicago they are planning on debuting the project sometime around spring 2027.

At the new bar, the DJ working in-house will play a wide variety of records on the turntables. Other dedicated DJ events are also planned as well as listening sessions and eventually buying and selling of vinyl.

“People share and find records, we share and find recipes,” Meihaus said.

As Meihaus has been in the music industry for over 25 years, as long as he’s lived in the area, he has connections with DJ’s and knows the business well. He hopes it will attract local musicians and music appreciators alike.

A beverage menu is still crafted, but mixed cocktails with sodas will be some of the main options. A couple drinks may have “beach” themes as well. The owners will look around for local craft cocktail recipes around Evanston in the coming weeks.

Bertucci and Meihaus are building their new bar on the east side of Chicago Avenue, near the intersection of Main Street. This is opening next to Cross-Rhodes Greek restaurant. The Main Street Purple Line and Metra stations are a very short walk from the space.

Meihaus said they are awaiting approval from the City of Evanston to get their liquor license approved. More updates will be released by the owners soon.
