Walmart is preparing to renovate one of its San Antonio stores, with plans calling for a comprehensive interior and exterior remodel at 1430 Austin Highway, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

The project, valued at $1.3 million, will modernise the existing Walmart store at 1430 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78209. Construction is expected to begin on January 24, 2027, with completion targeted for May 13, 2027.

According to the filing, the renovation will include upgrades to several areas throughout the store, including the sales floor, grocery department, pharmacy, vision centre, auto centre, customer service area, checkout lanes, breakroom, restrooms, and the online pickup area. Exterior improvements are also planned as part of the project.

The remodel will encompass approximately 9,210 square feet within the existing retail store.

The property is owned by Walmart Real Estate Business Trust, while Cyntergy is listed as the project’s design firm. The renovation is privately funded and is currently under review completion, according to the state filing.

Founded in 1962, Walmart operates thousands of stores across the United States, offering groceries, pharmacy services, household goods, electronics, apparel, automotive services, and more.
