Krispy Boyz, a San Diego-based fast casual restaurant specializing in birria tacos and birria mac and cheese tacos, is getting ready to open a new location in El Cajon at 415 Fletcher Parkway, Unit 737.

The company’s new location was recently revealed through documents submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality, according to public records. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the new restaurant will bring Krispy Boyz’s signature lineup of fusion tacos, birria favorites, and fried chicken to Parkway Plaza. Customers can also expect the concept’s popular mac and cheese creations, including its original birria mac and cheese taco.

Krispy Boyz first launched in 2020 and has steadily built a following by serving customers at farmers markets across San Diego County. The company currently operates at the Otay Ranch Farmers Market on Tuesdays, the La Jolla Farmers Market on Sundays, the Ocean Beach Farmers Market on Wednesdays, and the Oceanside Farmers Market on Thursdays. Last year, What Now San Diego also reported on the company’s plans to open a location at Barrio Food Hub in Barrio Logan.

The concept was founded with a mission to put a unique spin on familiar comfort foods while creating a welcoming atmosphere for the community, according to the company’s website. Krispy Boyz aims to serve customers like family while offering creative flavor combinations inspired by a lifelong passion for cooking. The Parkway Plaza restaurant marks another step in the company’s continued expansion beyond its farmers market roots.

The menu centers on birria-inspired dishes with an emphasis on inventive combinations. Along with its signature birria tacos and birria mac and cheese tacos, Krispy Boyz also serves fried chicken topped with its house-made KB sauce. Previous expansion plans have also included additional mac and cheese varieties, gourmet chicken sandwiches, French fries, and sampler platters.

This will be an excellent landing space for Krispy Boyz, considering Parkway Plaza’s steady flow of shoppers and central location in El Cajon. As the company continues growing its footprint throughout San Diego County, the new restaurant will provide customers with another permanent location to enjoy its signature menu.
