Surf Up Chicken is preparing to expand once again, with plans for a new location in Vista revealed in recent public records filed. San Diego County Department of Environmental Health permits show the brand is working on opening up a restaurant at 1998 Hacienda Dr.
An application was filed last week and is currently under review. The space is listed as a 2,341-square-foot shell that has previously housed a pharmacy and an optical center. It’s located within The Pavilion retail complex, according to LoopNet.
This news comes on the tail of the locally owned crispy chicken concept’s most recent expansion into two locations. Launched in Carlsbad in 2024, the restaurant brand just debuted a new Westfield UTC store in June. It’s unclear when this third location in Vista will debut.
The menu features its signature “World Famous Crispy Chicken”, which is marinated in organic chicken broth, infused with Asian fusion flavors, and hand-breaded. Top items include the cheese crispy chicken, chicken sandwiches, chicken and waffles, chicken curry, spaghetti, Belgian waffles, veggie egg rolls, fries, rice, greens, and Texas toast.
Surf Up also offers several specialty beverages, including freshly brewed Thai tea with cooked-to-order boba, Southern Cream Blend milk tea, Vietnamese-style iced coffee with condensed milk, Lemonade Frost, and Pineapple Bliss, a pineapple and coconut beverage.
