A specialty market and lifestyle retailer is expanding its presence in the East Village.

Barryville General, co-owned by Eric and Sharone Komoroff and Sean Naughton, opened at 68 Avenue A last December and will expand into the adjacent space at 70 Avenue A. The expansion will add the brand’s signature cafe, making the East Village location the first Barryville General to open without one. The company also operates a location in Southampton, EV Grieve reported.

The cafe will serve espresso from a local Cuban coffee roaster alongside grab-and-go Cuban-inspired fare, baked goods and nondairy soft-serve ice cream from Lavender and Truffles.

Customers will be able to access the cafe through a pass-through connecting the two buildings or via its own entrance.

The Komoroffs got their start by launching Pachute boutique in 2007. They later expanded their portfolio by opening additional retail and hospitality concepts, including Barryville General, General Jerk, The Bridge Recording Studio and Bottega Il Buco.

Naughton built his career in apparel with brands including Guess, Bloomingdale’s, Ralph Lauren, Levi’s, Wrangler and Lee before joining Barryville General as a partner in 2024 to help grow the brand.

Barryville General offers a curated selection of T-shirts, sweats, jackets, pants, shorts, shoes and accessories. The retailer carries brands including Jungmaven, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Portuguese Flannel, Stan Ray, Flower Mountain, Indigofera and Velva Sheen, alongside its own BG-branded collection.

An opening date has not been announced. Visit the Barryville General website or follow along on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
