A Maryland storefront is preparing to say “goodbye” to discount retail and “hello” to an automotive heavy-hitter. Gabe’s has announced its last day in Gaithersburg, and a neighboring AutoZone plans to move into the space, reports MoCo Show.
Gabe’s will be welcoming customers at 30 N. Frederick Avenue for the last time on Saturday, August 22. It’s not clear when, precisely, AutoZone will take over the Gaitherstowne Plaza storefront, however given the timeframe of Gabe’s closure, it seems likely the favorite of motorists won’t be ready until autumn at the earliest.
AutoZone was founded in Arkansas in 1979. Originally called “Auto Shack”, the chain has evolved into the foremost stop for all automotive needs. It has “revolutionized the industry while maintaining a customer-first, innovative mindset. AutoZone has grown to be the leading retailer and a leading distributor of automotive replacement parts and accessories.” The brand now has more than 7,700 storefronts open across the world.
