An upcoming Maryland retail and dining development has secured a powerful anchor store. Whole Foods Market has signed onto join Derby Place, which is “bringing new energy to the site of the historic Bel Air Racetrack with high-end retail, standout dining, and open green spaces, all in one place” to Bel Air in a couple of years.
Derby Place is coming to 610 Baltimore Pike, taking over a vacant Macy’s location. The development will span 94,587 square feet in Harford County. Whole Foods will be occupying 35,000 square feet of that space and will be joined by Dave’s Hot Chicken, Shake Shack, Warby Parker, and Eggspectation.
Whole Foods is a strong anchor store, bringing a wide range of grocery options to local shoppers. While the announcement of its arrival is doubtless causing enthusiasm in many Bel Air residents, that enthusiasm must be tempered with patience. Derby Place is on deck to be customer ready by spring of 2028.
