Prasino, a Mediterranean-inspired café concept known for fresh, wholesome food and Greek hospitality, is opening two new locations in Chicago: the first at 33 S. Wabash Avenue on August 25 and a second planned for 216 N. Aberdeen Street in the West Loop later this summer.
The Wabash café will be the first of three planned Chicago locations, according to a press release. The approximately 3,300-square-foot café will operate as an all-day destination, serving breakfast, lunch, coffee, matcha, smoothies, Greek yogurt, salads, bowls, wraps, sandwiches, and other grab-and-go options. The Aberdeen location will follow at approximately 2,000 square feet, with a third Riverwalk café planned for 2027.
Prasino has been serving Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in the Chicago area for more than 15 years and is now expanding its concept as an everyday café. The company’s website describes the brand as being rooted in sustainability, responsible sourcing, quality ingredients, and Greek hospitality. The name Prasino means “green” in Greek and reflects the company’s focus on sustainability, growth, and renewal.
The Wabash café will be in Chicago’s Loop, serving office workers, students, commuters, visitors, and downtown residents. The company says the location will offer seating, online ordering, takeout, and catering, with hours listed as 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The West Loop location will serve nearby residents, offices, and the neighborhood’s fitness and lifestyle community.
The menu across the new cafés will include Greek yogurt bowls, açai, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, salads, bowls, flatbreads, house-made dips, signature plates, smoothies, refreshers, coffee, tea, and a matcha bar. Prasino also highlights partnerships with suppliers including Illy, Slagel Farms, Scherger’s Kettle, and Testa Produce, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Founder Ted Maglaris said, “Prasino has always stood for fresh food, sustainability, and genuine hospitality. We’re building on that foundation with a café concept designed to become part of people’s everyday lives. Whether someone is grabbing coffee before work, meeting a colleague for lunch, stopping in after the gym, or picking up catering for the office, we want Prasino to be their neighborhood café.”
