A taco chain has found a new setting for expansion.
Mike’s Red Tacos is bringing 15 new restaurants to the state this year, per a report from QSR Magazine. The first location is coming to Royal Oak. Franchisee Michael Khalil told What Now Detroit he is hoping to open around the first week of December.
The company currently has three locations in California, starting out in San Diego in 2021. The company has prospects to move into other states including Texas, Minnesota, Arizona, Illinois, Nevada and Virginia. Over the next several years, the team will introduce more restaurants to the Great Lakes State.
Khalil is based in California and has franchising and restaurant experience at companies including Jersey Mike’s and Little Caesars. He has assisted with the Midwest expansion of Jersey Mike’s in the past, from the QSR Magazine report. Khalil and the team have not yet shared an address for the new Royal Oak location.
The menu has a wide variety of birria tacos, red quesadillas, burritos and crunchstacks. Their loaded fries come with beef birria and cheese, guac, sour cream, onions and cilantro. Other shareables include chips with queso or guac.
What Now Detroit is awaiting more information on additional Mike’s Red Tacos Michigan locations.
