Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is planning its first Jacksonville location at 1020 Park Street, bringing its lineup of small-batch ice creams and flavors to the Five Points neighborhood.
The upcoming scoop shop will be located in the Five Points Theater Building, adding another food and beverage concept to the area as the neighborhood continues to welcome new businesses.
Jeni’s is already looking ahead to the opening. According to the company’s website, the Jacksonville shop will be celebrated with a grand-opening party featuring free scoops throughout the evening. Additional details about the event have not yet been announced.
The Columbus, Ohio-based company currently has scoop shops across the country, with locations in Florida including Orlando, Tampa and Sarasota. Jeni’s was founded by Jeni Britton in 2002 and has built its reputation around ice cream made with fresh ingredients and flavors that are a little outside the usual lineup.
The company’s current offerings include Brambleberry Crisp, Gooey Butter Cake, Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Salty Caramel, along with seasonal and limited-time flavors. The company also offers ice cream pints, bars and sandwiches, while its scoop shops are designed around the in-person experience of trying different flavors and enjoying them by the scoop.
An official opening date for the 1020 Park Street location has not yet been announced.
