After one pizza option closed, another is coming soon.
From Lansing State Journal, Baba Ash Pizza & Grill is moving into the former DeLuca’s pizza spot at 2006 W Willow Street. This is a family-run business with a location in the Potter Walsh area, and this marks their first expansion. Co-owner Mehwish Javaid told What Now Detroit renovations are underway, and the team is hoping to open in a few months.
DeLuca’s closed for good in fall 2021 after serving the Lansing area for more than 60 years. It became a favorite by locals, and following the closure the team began looking into the property. Javaid and her husband, Bilal Ashraf, bought the building in October 2025.
The specialty pizzas offered at Baba Ash include a Greek, Hawaiian, gourmet vegetarian and super supreme with meats like sausage and pepperoni. For appetizers, the chain serves garlic bread, mac & cheese bites, potato wedges and chicken fingers with fries. Javaid said this location will have the same menu.
The building is at the corner of Sunset Avenue, across the street, across from Bazonzoes Provisioning cannabis store. This is west of the tracks, and not many other restaurants are in this area of Lansing. Downtown is a less than 10-minute drive from the storefront.
