See’s Candy is working on another airport opening, this time at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. According to a recently filed Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit, See’s Candy is expected to open at DFW International Airport, Terminal D, at 2333 S. International Parkway, Space Number: D-SV106.

The permit further details that the construction project for the new DFW See’s Candy is planned to start next September and is slated to wrap up by the beginning of December 2027. If all goes well with permitting and the estimated $501,000 construction project, the new See’s Candy in the international airport should open by the end of 2027.

What Now Dallas reached out to Brian Manternach, who was listed on the permit. But we did not hear back by the time of this publication.

“For over 105 years, See’s has been part of life’s sweetest moments,” the See’s Candy website reads.

“From hand-decorated treats to aged chocolate, we follow timeless recipes using only premium ingredients (and no preservatives).”

Charles See, his wife Florence, and his widowed mother, Mary See, founded See’s Candies in Los Angeles, California, in 1921. Charles opened the first shop at 135 N. Western Avenue in Los Angeles. Mary See’s home kitchen inspired the iconic black-and-white checkerboard shop design. By 1925, the brand had expanded to a dozen shops across California and used a custom Harley-Davidson motorcycle for local deliveries. During the Great Depression, Charles introduced a “sunlit candy studio” where customers could watch the candy-making process.

In 1972, Warren Buffett and Charles Munger bought See’s Candies for Berkshire Hathaway, making it one of Buffett’s classic long-term business case studies. See’s opened its first international shop in Kowloon, Hong Kong, in 1976, launched online ordering, and celebrated its centennial in 2021. In 2012, the company set a Guinness World Record for a 7,000-plus-pound chocolate lollipop.

Today, there are more than 250 See’s Candy locations. There are only seven stores in Texas, with a permanent storefront at the NorthPark Center.

What Now also briefly spoke with See’s Candy Director of Stores and Operations, Megan Lema, who confirmed the opening. But Lema was unable to share further details by the time of this publication.

But we’re sure that as we inch closer to opening, more will be revealed. So keep your ears perked and your eyes peeled for the latest.

See’s Candy is anticipated to open at DFW International Airport, Terminal D, at 2333 S. International Parkway, Space Number: D-SV106, by the end of 2027.
