A local burger brand is opening a new concept at Faneuil Hall Marketplace in downtown Boston.
Smashed by BRED, a new smashburger eatery from Dorchester-based BRED Gourmet, is slated to open inside the Quincy Market Main Hall at 4 South Market Street, according to a recent report from Wicked Local.
The eatery is among several new additions announced for the marketplace, joining upcoming tenants such as The Maharaja, Azul Mexican Kitchen, Captain Candy, Iris Galerie, Mona Sweets, and Tree House Brewing Company.
Faneuil Hall Marketplace is also preparing for the city’s upcoming U.S. 250th anniversary celebrations with planned restoration work, including cobblestone and granite repairs, as well as cleaning and painting throughout the historic property.
While details about the new concept remain limited, Smashed by BRED comes from Chef Tambo Barrow, founder of BRED Gourmet. Since launching the restaurant in 2015, Barrow has grown the brand to two locations in Dorchester’s Lower Mills and Cambridge’s Kendall Square.
An official menu has not yet been released, but guests can likely expect a streamlined, fast-casual lineup centered on smashburgers. Current offerings at BRED include a classic Smashburger topped with grilled onions, American cheese, tomato jam, and BRED aioli, as well as the UFO, a bunless double smashburger wrapped in griddled onions with American cheese and a secret sauce.
Beyond burgers, BRED serves a variety of creative comfort food, offering everything from Smoked Wings and Honey Butter Cornbread to Oxtail Nachos and a Beer Battered Onion Ring Tower. It remains unclear how much of that broader menu will make the jump to the new Faneuil Hall outpost.
“At BRED, every smoked burger, every cocktail, every plate is more than just food; it’s a reflection of heritage, a passport of experiences, and a reminder that passion has the power to create something unforgettable,” reads the company website. “Our kitchen is fueled by maple and hickory smoke, layering every bite with depth, warmth, and soul.”
An official opening date for Smashed by BRED has not yet been announced. What Now Boston has reached out to the team and will share updates as they become available.
