A popular Salem shop is casting a new spell over Pickering Wharf.
Stardust, a witchcraft and metaphysical shop, is relocating from its original Congress Street space to a waterfront spot between Longboards Restaurant & Bar and Timeless Life Treasures at 70 Wharf Street. Owner and Reverend Sarah-Frankie Carter told What Now Boston that the business is preparing for a grand opening ceremony this fall, just in time for Salem’s busiest season.
“While our former location was beautiful, we were too far away from the downtown area,” Carter explained. “Our move to Pickering Wharf allows us to stay close to the water and provides a much more convenient location for guests to visit us.”
Although the address may be changing, Stardust’s eclectic collection of handmade and metaphysical goods will remain the same. The shop carries an assortment of products made by local artists, including a selection of Pairpoint Glass witch balls, pumpkins, and suncatchers. According to Carter, Stardust is the only shop in Salem to carry the pieces, including a unique witch ball created specifically for Stardust by Pairpoint Glass, which Carter noted is the oldest glass-blowing company in the country.
Another standout offering is wolf fur from Wolf Hollow in Ipswich, Massachusetts, with $3 from every purchase donated back to the wolves. Carter will continue making Stardust’s signature spell candles and melts, while a brand-new line of anointing oils is set to debut when the new shop officially opens.
For those looking to deepen their own practice, Carter said Stardust has been told that it boasts the largest selection of tarot cards and runes in the area. The shop will also offer spaces for visitors to connect with the spiritual side of Salem, including altars where guests can leave offerings for deities such as Nyx and Persephone. At the Ancestral Altar, visitors can leave a message or offering for someone they love who has crossed the veil before them.
Beyond its retail offerings, Stardust’s new space will host readings, tours, events, and classes throughout the year, with programming extending well beyond Salem’s October rush. The team also plans to collaborate with neighboring businesses and friends around Pickering Wharf on upcoming classes and rituals. The weekly Magickal Meet-up will bring local and visiting practitioners together to meet like-minded people while learning or brushing up on a different magickal skill each week.
Behind the scenes, the Stardust team has been hard at work transforming the new space. Carter said the goal is to create an environment that embodies the “duality of the human experience, where everyone can feel welcome and find the Magick they are searching for within themselves and the world around them.”
The shop will be sporadically open as the team puts the finishing touches on the new space. A grand opening celebration with the Salem Chamber of Commerce is planned for mid-October 2026, just in time for the Halloween season.
