Indian Pakistani fusion restaurant Tandoor Char House is expanding to a third location in West Town, located at 1022 N Western Ave.
The new restaurant will move into the former home of TaKOREA Cocina across from the Ukrainian Village. Owner Faraz Sardharia tells What Now Chicago he plans to open the restaurant sometime next month, possibly as early as mid-September. He and his brother Fahim Sardharia opened the original location in Lincoln Parkin 2012 and have since expanded to a delivery location in River North. The company also has a virtual restaurant, Tikka Masala Taco House, which has won 1st Place for Best Taco at the Lakeview Taco Fest.
When the new Tandoor Char House opens next month, customers can expect a combination of Indian and Pakistani dishes, and all served with various sides such as rice, raita, and achar. Some of the restaurant’s signature dishes include chicken tikka masala, beef nehari, lamb karhai, tandoori aloo, rib eye steak, tamarind wings, penne tikka masala, and plenty of vegetarian options. To finish off the meal, the restaurant offers several sweet treats like gulab jamun, mango cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake, and different kulfi ice cream flavors.
“Amazed and inspired by the deliciously sumptuous stews simmering in their mother’s Karhai, and their father’s rare and delectably deep marination of Halal meats charred to perfection according to tradition, Fahim and Faraz breathed life into Tandoor Char House,” according to the company’s website. “Curious and mesmerized by the style and precision of their parents’ cooking, the Sardharia Brothers devoted many years in the kitchen perfecting this collection of recipes and developing new ones of their very own.”
