Barnes & Noble is planning to open a new store at 3166 State Highway 161, within the Epic West Towne Crossing shopping center in Grand Prairie, according to public filings.

Janine Flanigan, VP of Store Design at Barnes & Noble, Inc., confirmed the opening to What Now Dallas. “We are very excited to open a new Barnes & Noble at Epic West Towne Crossing in Grand Prairie,” Flanigan said. The store is targeted to open in spring 2027 and will span approximately 15,000 square feet, offering “a thoughtfully curated selection of books, toys, games, gifts, and more,” according to Flanigan. This location will not include a B&N Cafe.

The Grand Prairie filing lands amid an unusually aggressive expansion push for the bookseller. What Now Dallas previously reported that Barnes & Noble was planning a new store in Tarrant County, at Presidio Towne Crossing, which would become the chain’s 18th location in the Fort Worth area alone.

Nationally, Barnes & Noble confirmed in December to FoxBusiness that it plans to open 60 new stores in 2026. The company has attributed the turnaround to a strategy shift that hands more control over layout, selection and events to local booksellers at each store, moving away from a more standardized, corporate approach. Company leadership has said the strategy has driven strong sales at existing locations, fueling the push into new markets.

Epic West Towne Crossing has grown steadily since breaking ground in 2017, according to public filings. The center has since added tenants including Tiff’s Treats and a State Farm office, per the same public filing system.
