SA Hospitality Group, the operator of the Sant Ambroeus coffee shop in Aspen, is doubling down on its imprint in the city. The company will be opening a restaurant under the Sant Ambroeus name at the property at 201 E Main St., Aspen Daily News reports.

The eatery is set to bring the essence of Milanese-inspired cuisine to the heart of Aspen. Sant Ambroeus traces its origins back to Italy in 1936 and now has several in New York and one in Florida.

Developer Mark Hunt’s organization has begun construction on the long-dormant site, which was home to Main Street Bakery. That establishment closed in 2016 and has been boarded up since. It’s in the heart of Aspen.

Land-use approvals for the project were granted by the Aspen Historic Preservation Commission in January 2020. Plans involve restoring the two existing structures and building a new structure facing Main Street. An outdoor seating area is also planned as part of the new establishment.
