A popular local brewery in downtown Farmington has announced its permanent closure. Heights Brewing will permanently close on August 2 after just two years in business. The owners cited rising costs and financial issues as the reason for the shutdown.
Heights Brewing Prepares for Final Weeks of Operation
Owned and operated by Ryan Kavanagh and Shawn MacDonnell, the Downtown Farmington taproom opened in 2024. Heights Brewing developed a strong following in the community with its unique gluten-free brewing system.
The menu offers 100% gluten-free dining options, including BBQ-inspired dishes, burgers, and other pub fare. The concept focused on offering gluten-free food and beer for customers with celiac disease and other dietary sensitivities.
Located at 23621 Farmington Road in Farmington, MI, Heights Brewing plans to close on August 2, 2026.
In the social media announcement, the team thanked the community and customers and said, “From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for believing in us, for supporting us, and for making Heights Brewing part of your lives.”
What Led to the Closure
In the post, the owners said rising costs, loan payments, and other financial pressures made it increasingly difficult to operate the business.
While the story of Heights Brewing comes to an end, the team encouraged the community to keep supporting the small local businesses.
“Please keep supporting the local businesses that make this community so special — they’re the heartbeat of the place we’ve been proud to call home,” they added.
Following the closure announcement, several customers of the brewery expressed their disappointment on social media. One customer commented, “This makes me really sad to hear. You’re one of my favorite places to visit in downtown Farmington and one of the places I take all my friends.”
The brewery invited its loyal customers and community to stop in and enjoy one more drink before closing permanently.
