The restaurant on the dock is going through a major change in 2026.

Joe Vicari Restaurant Group has officially taken over operations for Hook at 24214 Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores. The restaurant is now open, but the change of ownership was announced on May 8. A menu change and more investments in the restaurant are to follow.

Joe Vicari is one of the leading hospitality companies in Detroit, with names including Joe Muer Seafood, Birmingham Pub, The Statler, the Bronze Door and Vito’s Italian Bakery. The company recently took over operations for Hamlin Pub at 313 Park Avenue in downtown Detroit. For the ownership change, the menu will be more extensive for seafood.

“Executive Chef Jim Oppat has crafted a brand new menu celebrating Great Lakes seafood, prime steaks, and fresh seasonal starters. Think Burrata Caprese, Filet Mignon, Strawberry & Fig Salad, and so much more,” says the Facebook post from Hook.

Currently, Hook serves entrees like the Lake Erie yellow belly perch filets, orange glazed salmon and coconut chicken. Soups and salads are served, along with sides like shoestring fries and saffron rice pilaf. The space features a tiki bar and offers a wine list as well.

From Crain’s Detroit Business, the current owner of Hook, Tom Lauzon, will still be a passive owner, but the group is taking over day-to-day operations. What Now Detroit has reached out to the restaurant group and is awaiting comment.

The waterfront restaurant is near the Blossom Heath Pier, and is a destination for many who park their boats in the area. Other restaurants nearby include Zef’s Dockside Bar & Kitchen and WaterMark Bar and Grille. Hook is accessible by turning from Jefferson Avenue onto Blackburn Street.

Hook also released new hours of operation, which are lunch 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Saturday, dinner 3-9 p.m. Monday to Saturday, brunch from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sundays and dinner from 2-9 p.m. on Sundays. More information can be found on their Facebook page.
