Heart Attack Grill is set to close after nearly 15 years in Downtown Las Vegas. The restaurant confirmed the closure in an announcement on its website. The team cited changes in the Las Vegas dining landscape and shifting customer habits as factors in the decision.

Heart Attack Grill Set to Shut Down

Located inside Neonopolis Mall, Heart Attack Grill became famous for its hospital-themed dining experience and oversized high-calorie burgers. The concept first launched in Arizona in 2005 before relocating to Las Vegas in 2011.

The restaurant team shared the closure announcement on May 18 alongside a statement posted to its website.

In the announcement, the team stated, “We’re proud of our 21-year impact on America’s waistline. The obesity rate has risen from 30% in 2005 to nearly 45% today, and we pat ourselves on the back for leading the charge.”

The team also informed the customers that this is not a final goodbye. “For those loyal to HAG, do not despair. This is not the end of the world’s most controversial restaurant; it is merely the beginning of a new chapter,” the team added.

Reasons for the Closure

In its announcement, the restaurant said it will not renew its long-term lease. The team blamed changes in the Las Vegas dining scene and rising costs for the decision.

“The Heart Attack Grill will not be renewing its long-term lease. This decision stems from the reality that major casinos have intentionally priced the average person out of the quintessential American experience of affordable indulgence,” the statement said.

The team also said the restaurant’s “eat big and laugh loud” style no longer fits today’s dining trends.

The statement also reflected on how the restaurant’s high-calorie concept has become less aligned with evolving perceptions of dining culture in Las Vegas.

The team said it hopes to continue its “high-calorie mission” in the future. Once it closes, Downtown Las Vegas will lose a long-running and unconventional dining concept.
