Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee, a California bakery chain boasting the “world’s freshest doughnuts,” plans to open two new locations. Manhattan Village in Manhattan Beach announced the new addition to their outlet on their website, but did not specify an opening date; another seventh location is slated to open at 171 S Fairfax Avenue in January of 2021, according to the Sidecar Doughnuts website.

Co-owners Sumter and Chi-Lin Pendergast first sold doughnuts in Costa Mesa out of a refurbished 1959 Helm’s Bakery Truck. Now, their pastries are made in-house daily at each of their locations, along with the fruit purees, fresh creams and custards that cover and fill them.

Since opening their flagship Costa Mesa location in 2013, the eatery has earned a slew of high-profile accolades, including coverage on the Food Network’s Best Thing I Ever Ate and Unique Sweets on the Cooking Channel. Now, the establishment maintains locations in Santa Monica, Del Mar and Torrance.
