Something sweet is coming to Scotlandville, where Rise & Glaze is preparing to serve up handcrafted doughnuts and fresh coffee at its new Baton Rouge shop.

The new shop will open at 8235 Scenic Hwy, offering handcrafted donuts, coffee and other menu items.

Owner Layhuoy ‘Kelly’ Chea told WhatNow Media Group that the location appealed to her because of the area’s growth, visibility and accessibility. “We chose this location because it’s in a growing community with great visibility and easy access for families, commuters and local businesses. We wanted to bring a fresh, welcoming donut shop to the area where people can stop in for a quality breakfast, coffee or sweet treat any time of the day,” she said.

Customers can expect fresh donuts made daily, including a variety of classic and specialty flavors, along with kolaches, breakfast items and freshly brewed coffee.

The shop will feature a warm, sunrise-inspired theme, designed to create a bright and welcoming atmosphere for customers. “Our goal is to provide great food, friendly service and a place where customers enjoy starting their mornings,” Chea said.

The opening has also been welcomed by District 2 Councilman Anthony Kenney, who said the investment forms part of the continued economic development taking place throughout the district.

While an exact opening date has not yet been finalized, Chea said the team is hoping to open in late August or early September, depending on final inspections and preparations.
