Blank Street Coffee does things a little differently. The small-format coffee shop, which serves Parlor Coffee, King Street Baking Co, Pain D’Avignon, and more, takes the form of street carts and micro-kiosks around Manhattan and Brooklyn, and according to a Craigs List advertisement, has been very busy expanding.
“We’re rapidly expanding our reach throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan and looking for baristas to bring joy, warmth, and beautiful latte art to our new locations!” Shares a job advertisement posted to Craigs List New York. The company’s mission is to “reinvent local commerce to better serve our customers, our neighborhoods, and our planet.”
To that end, it sounds like a new micro-kiosk is headed to 45 Christopher Street. The building, located in the West Village Submarket, has four ground floor storefronts. The building’s upstairs is residential.
Blank Street self-describes as having ‘big dreams.’ The shop hopes to one day become the most sustainable coffee brand on the planet, and here are some of the measures it takes to achieve that goal. First off, Blank Street sources 100% eco-friendly packaging. But even more importantly, it uses eco-friendly street carts. These electric coffee carts were created by Max Crespo, founder of EV Foods and are “the first completely electric — zero emissions and zero sound — mobile unit[s].” The battery-powered carts are parked all over New York, and you can follow Blank Street’s social media or download the company’s app to find out where.
