The Golden Steer Steakhouse has been operating in Las Vegas since 1958, offering a classic steakhouse experience to customers for decades and serving celebrities such as Frank Sinatra in its long history. Now, the steakhouse is heading to New York City, with plans to open this fall in the historic  space.

CEO Amanda Signorelli told What Now New York that she and the team are looking to bring a new chapter to the Golden Steer story through the New York steakhouse. Much of their brand is rooted in history, and Signorelli hopes to incorporate that into the New York space, just as they have at the longstanding restaurant in Las Vegas.

“When we think about the Golden Steer, we really are synonymous with the story of Las Vegas,” Signorelli said. “We have grown with it in tandem. It has always been a big part of our identity. We really think of ourselves as the soul of Las Vegas.”

Signorelli sees a parallel between New York and Las Vegas, which drew her to the spot at 1 Fifth Avenue.

“When you look at the iconic patrons who have come in and out of Vegas, there are quite a few who have a tie to New York,” Signorelli said. “It makes sense for the brand, it makes sense for the customer and it makes sense for the time.”

The space will be about 4,600 square feet and will have 66 tables that will seat 170, as well as a bar that will seat 18, according to paperwork filed for a liquor license at the address. The Golden Steer team plans to absorb much of the history of the 1 Fifth Avenue space into the design, while also including signature aspects of the Golden Steer brand such as the booths with white tablecloths. Signorelli emphasizes that the Golden Steer brand revolves around storytelling, and the design for the new spot will be no different.

“The biggest piece for us is when we think about how exciting the New York story is going to be, it’s really tied to honoring the 1 Fifth legacy,” Signorelli said.

Golden Steer menu highlights include their famous Caesar salad and a selection of steak cuts, from filet mignon to prime rib. The menu also features seafood items like lobster.

Eventually, Signorelli expects to look for international locations to expand the brand further. However, she and the team are focused on preparing the New York location first and ensuring that it offers a unique experience to customers.

“We’re incredibly thrilled to be in New York,” Signorelli said. “It’s going to be an amazing opportunity for us. Everything that we’re doing right now is for how we make our New York experience as successful as we believe it can and should be.”
