South Jersey steakhouse The Pub will temporarily close this summer. The Pennsauken restaurant announced the temporary closure on social media. The restaurant plans to open for its diners in September, taking a short summer break.
The Pub is Taking a Short Vacation
The Pub is taking what it describes as a “short vacation.” The 75-year-old steakhouse announced that it will close temporarily beginning August 3, 2026. The restaurant team did not cite any specific reason for the break and assured diners to reopen on Friday, September 18.
According to a report by PhillyBurbs, this is the third consecutive summer break for the restaurant. The restaurant previously closed for repairs and renovations during the summer of 2024. Last year’s summer break reason was not revealed by the restaurant.
In the social media announcement, the restaurant promised diners that they would be back refreshed and ready to pour the good times.

About the Longstanding Gathering Spot
The Pub has been a go-to dining spot in South Jersey since 1951. Three families converted a former nightclub near Airport Circle into a steakhouse that became a longtime South Jersey dining destination.
It was destroyed by a fire in 1960 but was rebuilt and has been up and running since then. Today, it remains the only surviving location of the original Pub restaurant group.
The Pub is known for cooking its steaks over a traditional open charcoal hearth. This is a feature that sets it apart from other local steakhouses. The menu has expanded from limited items to prime rib, hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, and chicken entrées.
Guests also enjoy signature favorites like BBQ Baby Back Ribs at The Pub. The main courses are accompanied by the restaurant’s famous salad bar. Many of the menu items are still made in-house, including the zucchini bread and cranberry sauce.
Although The Pub is closing temporarily, it will return soon for customers to enjoy the long-time dining experience that made it a South Jersey favorite.
