For over five years, partners of the hospitality group What If Syndicate have been bringing good food to Chicago and beyond. Partners David Pisor, Jim Lasky, and Chef Danny Grant opened their flagship steakhouse, Maple & Ash, in 2015, which now has a location in Scottsdale as well as Chicago. The steakhouse is only one of many brands Michelin-star winning Chef Grant oversees today.

Etta, with two locations in Chicago and one soon to open in Los Angeles, will open its doors in Scottsdale in the fall of 2021.

According to their website, the group’s original goal has not changed since 2015: “to create an amazing guest experience by marrying the love of great food with a dedication to service.” To that end, Etta, or, ‘keeper of the hearth,’ will serve up wood-fired delicacies like fire baked focaccia, seasonal pizzas, and homemade pastas. According to Etta’s Facebook, you can even indulge in wood-fired French toast topped with brûlée’d banana, Nutella ricotta, and toasted hazelnuts.

While Maple & Ash is an upscale steakhouse that asks patrons come dressed formally, Etta is branded as “wood-fired food in a fun, relaxed dining environment.” Here, family and friends can “eat and drink as if they are in their own home.” Our own Scottsdale’s Etta will be equipped with a wood-burning brick oven and a giant wood-fired hearth for spit roasting and grilling.

According to The Phoenix New Times, Etta is moving into the former BRIO spot at 15059 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale.

Sounds like your Sunday brunch plans are about to get even better.
