In the fall, What Now Sacramento reported that a mother-son team was developing a new café concept in Sacramento. Now, it looks like that vision has shifted.
Bobbi and Nate Torrez, the duo behind The Hangout bubble tea shop in Lodi, had previously announced plans to open 9 Bars Coffee in Loehmann’s Plaza Shopping Center, set to debut in the former Grateful Bread space at 2543 Fair Oaks Blvd.
However, a recent social media update indicates a pivot in both branding and direction, along with a delayed timeline. The project will now open as Daily Dose, with construction officially underway.
“We’re excited to announce we have begun construction on our Sacramento cafe Daily Dose in the Loehmanns plaza!” the team shared. “Follow us as we transform this space and build an all new elevated concept with coffee at the forefront.”
When it was originally announced, 9 Bars Coffee was expected to specialize in espresso-driven drinks featuring house-made syrups, imported Japanese matcha topped with scratch-made creams and toppings, and locally baked pastries. Daily Dose menu details, however, have not been revealed.
The Torrez family also recently opened the Chopping Block Deli in Galt, described as “your neighborhood spot for bold, handcrafted sandwiches made with premium meats, fresh-baked rolls, and house-made sauces you won’t find anywhere else.”
What Now Sacramento has reached out for further details regarding the updated concept and menu. An official opening date for Daily Dose has not yet been announced, though the team notes it is “coming soon.”
