Capitol Beer and Tap Room at 2222 Fair Oaks Blvd has brought cold beer and welcoming vibes to the community since 2012. Now, the business is being sold to a new owner after 12 years of dedicated operations. This news was first seen in the Sacramento Business Journal.
The incoming operator, Diane George, previously owned Liquid Lounge, a bar and grill in Long Beach, for 10 years until she sold the business. George was a regular at Capitol Beer and Tap Room and always loved the place. She eventually reached out to co-owners Patti Aguirre and Kenny Hotchkiss. The opportunity aligned with Hotchkiss’s move to Reno last year, leaving the local site mainly to Aguirre, who now wants to retire.
“I’ve been looking for a business to purchase over the past few years, and I didn’t want to deal with a full liquor license or a kitchen. I was only looking to work with wine and beer. Capitol Beer and Tap Room was perfect. I’ve been going there for a couple of years now, and I just love everything about it,” George told What Now Sacramento over the phone.
The transition between owners will not lead to any closure in between. George plans to take over and continues to operate the business as-is, including retaining all current employees.
“The reason people love this place so much is because of how it is. And I want to make sure I preserve everything. There is nothing our customers need to worry about. It will still be the Cap-Tap everyone knows,” George said.
