Bacari, a restaurant based in Los Angeles and inspired by the traditional wine bars of Venice, Italy, is preparing to open its first location in San Diego at 3823 30th Street.
The company’s eighth location is set to replace Urban Solace in North Park, which closed in March 2019, according to San Diego Magazine. This new Bacari will be situated in a bi-level space spanning 3,872 square feet, complete with a private patio. This will be the first time Bacari expands beyond Los Angeles, where it can be found in Silver Lake, West 3rd Street, Playa del Rey, Glendale, West Adams, Sherman Oaks, and Beverly Hills.
Founded in 2008 near the University of Southern California, Bacari has expanded to several locations in the Los Angeles area. The restaurant is known for its vibrant menus featuring small plates that reflect Mediterranean and global influences. Executive Chef and co-founder Lior Hillel, who has an impressive background that includes time at New York’s three-Michelin-starred Jean-Georges, curates Bacari’s offerings.
Some popular dishes include caramelized Brussels sprouts with pomegranate molasses, crispy Bacari fries with a fried egg, and Asian pear and brie pizza. The Beverly Hills location also features new items, such as red wine-braised beef cheeks and delicata squash with cashew salsa. With fresh ingredients and bold flavors, Bacari makes for a delicious and unique dining experience.
The San Diego location is expected to provide a similar dining experience, with a menu inspired by Venetian-style cuisine and a thoughtfully curated wine selection. Although the exact opening date has not been announced yet, this new location is expected to open in early 2026. Bacari’s entry into the San Diego market is highly anticipated, particularly given the rich culinary legacy of the Urban Solace space.
