Mob Bar, a prohibition-themed bar chain with multiple locations across the U.S., including Los Angeles, Pomona, Galveston, and Cedar Falls, is getting ready to open a new site in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.
The concept was launched in March 2020 and is inspired by the Prohibition era and the Roaring Twenties, featuring 1920s-inspired cocktails and entertainment, including jazz music, burlesque shows, and themed events. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the brand has continued to expand steadily. Each venue is uniquely styled to reflect the era.
Additional locations are currently in development, including one in Chicago’s Wrigleyville. The upcoming Chicago location will feature gangster-themed murals, mob movie posters, a lineup of notorious criminals, and ten televisions showing classic gangster films, such as The Godfather and Goodfellas, after Cubs games.
Mob Bar’s first location opened in Downtown Los Angeles, situated in a basement that is rumored to have hosted notorious gangsters like Mickey Cohen and Bugsy Siegel. Since then, a handful of Mob Bars have opened, with two more in development, including one in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. The location and opening date for the new Mob Bar in San Diego remain unclear. While the team is excited to expand into San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter site has not officially signed its lease, but hopes to very soon.
